Damage, killing and healing

How units get hurt, when they die, and when they recover

When a card says "Deal 3 to a unit", put 3 counters, dice or anything else on that unit to show it. Combat marks units the same way. What's marked on a unit is its , and it adds up: a unit dealt 2, then 1, has 3.

Dying

Once a unit's damage is equal to its Might or more, that's lethal damage, and it dies: it goes from the table to its owner's trash. It doesn't happen in the middle of a card. The card that dealt the damage finishes first, then every unit with lethal damage dies at once.

Some cards skip the damage. says "Kill a unit," and that unit goes straight to the trash, however much Might it has. A unit going from the table to the trash, from damage or from a card like this, is said to it. A token that's killed is gone for good.

Might can change after damage is dealt. A unit with 4 Might and 3 damage is fine, until something gives it -1 Might. Then its damage is lethal, and it dies.

Recovering

Damage doesn't stay. At the end of each turn, yours and your opponent's, all damage is cleared from every unit. Clearing damage from a unit is called to it. So damage only counts on the turn it's dealt: a unit that survives with 3 damage starts the next turn with none.

Some cards heal too, which clears damage at other times.

Note

Killing isn't the only way off the table. A unit returned to its owner's hand, like does, isn't killed. Cards that care about a unit dying don't count it.
